Why LOSING is sometimes exactly what you need…(my Conor McGregor reaction)
I’m definitely not someone who pays super close attention to the UFC, but it’s hard to avoid hearing about it and tuning in a little bit when a star as big as Conor McGregor is fighting.
I didn’t watch the fight or know very much about it before it even happened...
...at first all I heard was that he ended up losing.
But I was scrolling through my Instagram timeline on Sunday and the next thing I knew I was reading articles about the fight and his post-fight press conference.
I expected to read about him making cocky comments, still maintaining that arrogant demeanor we all came to know him for.
But in reality, he took the loss like a champion and kept it moving.
(if you’re curious about exactly what he said, go check out the video on YouTube)
I’m not going to dig too deep into Conor McGregor, but it made me realize that sometimes you gotta just take the loss.
Conor might talk a big game before the fight, but I’m sure he knows that there’s more to learn from a loss than there is from a win.
I had a lot of moments in my own life where now, I can say that taking a loss or failing miserably turned out to be what I needed in the end.
Now is around the time where all that “new year, new me” energy starts to wear off...and it’s easy to let one setback take you off track.
Whether you’re learning a new skill, going to the gym, taking on a big project at work or school, sometimes you’re gonna take an L.
Take a page out of Conor McGregor’s book and turn it into a learning experience.
A lot of people will have a lot to say when they see you fail, but in the end - the credit belongs to the man in the arena.
AKA Conor McGregor…
AKA...you.
Keep pushing.
