Getting REAL about the Simone Biles situation...
I’m sure you’ve all seen this photo on Instagram…
There’s a dog race happening, and in the background, you see a cheetah...clearly uninterested in the action.
Why?
The cheetah is a class above its competition...whether it competes or not, it would easily win the race.
I’m sure you’ve seen all the media talk about Simone Biles pulling out of the Olympics recently, and whether you want to accept it or not, she’s the cheetah competing with dogs in this situation.
Sure, the situation isn’t completely clean or perfect, but let’s make one thing super clear…
Simone Biles is one of the greatest gymnasts to ever touch a mat...and it’s quite possible that she’s the greatest of all time.
Can you imagine the dedication it took to become an all-time great at anything before you were 24 years old?
Imagine becoming so great that you don’t even get judged the same way as your competitors…
Imagine being so good that you have signature moves that nobody can pull off…
That’s how good Simone is.
No matter what your opinion is about how this all played out, this girl is one of the greatest athletes of all time.
She belongs in the conversation with Brady, Jordan, Phelps, and other all-time athletes.
Regardless of your opinion on whether she should’ve pulled out of the Olympics or not, her work ethic, competitiveness, and dominance in her sport aren’t up for debate.
Jordan took a few years off to play baseball too, that doesn’t take away from him being one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
Let this be a lesson to you on multiple fronts.
On one hand, realize that no matter how good you are your critics will always have something to say. There’s simply no escaping that.
On the other hand, understand that people fight battles every single day that you have absolutely no idea about.
Simone has faced adversity and challenges that most people can’t even begin to comprehend.
Before you form your opinion, be sure to do your homework.
And before you let people’s opinions get to you, remember that they probably haven’t done their homework either.
