Creating Our Own Version of All-Star Weekend

In The Lab's Creator Classic Is The All-Star Weekend for Basketball Content Creators

Every year, the NBA gets the top basketball players in the world together for one special weekend of events. 

No matter how much you love basketball, this is one of those weekends that you block off on your calendar. Aside from the NBA Finals or the Super Bowl, it’s one of the most special weekends for sports - especially in the USA. 

Because of how popular basketball content creators have become, the crossover between professional basketball and these creators has only continued to grow over the last few years. 

An easy example is how many basketball content creators have been invited to participate in NBA All-Star Weekend’s celebrity games, or how Devin has had several opportunities to collaborate directly with the NBA throughout the season. 

But what if we could make an All-Star Weekend for the world’s top basketball content creators? Our own concept, new events, and rules with a twist.

What if we could get these content creators into the same gym for a series of events - just like All-Star Weekend?

This is something that we’ve wanted to do as a brand for a long time, and finally, in 2021, we’re making it happen. 

On October 15th, 2021, In The Lab’s Creator Classic will be hosted in our new gym out in LA. (you heard that right, our own gym)

We’re bringing in some of the biggest creators in the basketball world out for a day full of dope events and even better vibes. 

Here’s a quick look at some of the events that we’re putting on:

Shooters Shoot

We’ve recreated the 3 point contest to make it more interesting and strategic for our competitors. Shooters Shoot will still have the standard 5 racks around the 3 point line, but there will also be two 4-point racks and even a half-court rack. Competitors will have 70 seconds to put up as many points as possible, but where they shoot will completely depend on the competitors’ strategy. 

Jam Fest (Mini Hoop & Pro)

We’ll be hosting both content creators and pro dunkers at the Creator Classic, so we’ll split this into 2 different contests. The pros will face off on a 10ft hoop in a 3 round setup with 2 dunks per round. The creators will face off on an 8ft hoop in a 2 round setup with 2 dunks per round. The winner of each bracket will walk away with $10,000 and the ultimate bragging rights from the first-ever Creator Classic. 

The Cage 1v1

We’re bringing back the vibes from our popular YouTube series - the Cage and of course the famous match of Dev vs Friga. The Cage contestants will face off 1v1 in games to 12. Everyone will call their own fouls, and scoring will be 1s and 2s. The winners will walk away with bragging rights and of course $10K cash.

We’re going to be streaming the event live on PPV to everyone.

This truly is going to be the basketball event of the year, and we can’t wait to reveal who we’re bringing out to join us at this historic event.
